Benefits of the punch needle
How the punch needle completely improved my life
The best stories begin with a great crisis.
A plane that crashes on a desert island, a cancer that makes you rethink how you make a living, a car that goes off the road, a heel that breaks in the middle of the street... a planetary virus...

The Moomzartian story begins when I, Sylvie, was working for a company to which I dedicated many hours, and where tensions were constantly generated. I came home with a suitcase full of stress, My mind was totally immersed in this unhealthy work microcosm, and logically it was taking its toll on me.
One day, talking about the subject with a colleague, she told me that she relieved her stress by knitting. But I found it impossible to make time for it (that is, make time for myself). Arriving home late and completing unavoidable household chores (what can I tell you...), I just wanted to get into bed and rest. On the other hand, I was always a computer girl and was not familiar with the world of crafts although my mother, when I was little, had taught me garter stitch. But I had to experiment with solutions and I bought a knitting kit, and I got hooked. And by the way, I realized that it is always possible to make time, even 15 minutes a day, to do something that makes you happy.
During the time I was knitting, my mind disconnected, I was relaxed. My life was still the same, but these little moments of knitting allowed my mind to stop the loop and live in the present moment. The bad thing was that it put a burden on my shoulders and back. And the problem ended up leading to tendinitis in the right arm and back pain. The doctor directly recommended that I quit this hobby. On the other hand, the sock generated a lot of frustration for me because it was difficult for me to understand the stitches, undo work to recover loose stitches and, above all, go to my mother's house every now and then to have her repair my mistakes that I couldn't solve. I didn't feel autonomous and it was a problem for me. And I put this hobby aside.
But the days went by and I missed him. One day searching the internet for activities to do with yarn (I missed living with balls of yarn), I discovered an embroidery technique called punchneedle, that could replace the sock that was causing me back pain and frustration. After watching several videos on YouTube, the technique seemed very easy to me. I started and saw that It allowed me to do things that for me surpassed knitting, and that it did not cause problems for my back and shoulders. You could make anything: cushions, paintings, bags, toiletries, jackets, rugs, dolls, etc. It seemed like a wonderful hobby because it left a lot of freedom. The technique was so easy that I didn't need to go to classes or ask for help. to my mother every 2×3, as happened to me with the sock.
I saw that it was not easy to find good quality materials and this seemed like a business opportunity to me. But I didn't take the step because I couldn't gather the desire and the materials to convince me. I bought a lot of fabrics and none of them worked for me, I bought needles and none of them convinced me. I couldn't find interesting patterns to embroider. So I shelved the idea.
Although I didn't put it aside completely, the idea of starting a business continued in my head. And one day I met a wonderful businesswoman from the audiovisual world who liked the idea. He encouraged me to carry it out. And while I gave her the buts, she refuted them all, and told me this phrase: “To carry out your business you only have to think about yourself and forget about everything around you.” In those days, I also met Álex again, with whom I have always felt professionally aligned, but with whom I had never managed to work for different reasons. We started talking about the project and we saw that we complemented each other and that better ideas emerged from both of us together than from working separately. Furthermore, Álex, a computer scientist by training and an entrepreneur by vocation, knew how to capture the emotional value of the Moomzart project because he himself builds in his free time and has a Master's degree in customizing Ikea furniture...
At this moment I decided to take the step. I set a deadline of 3 months to organize my personal life and get started. I left the company where I worked, already with my new direction set. And although not everyone could understand that I left a job to sell “women's things that they make in the corner of their sofa at home”, I was already totally convinced. A 100% business project related to my principles: Top quality organic products with a high emotional value aimed at the world's leading economic generator group: women.
Each and every one of us at some point in our lives has had an experience with craft: a grandmother who knitted, a mother who did cross stitch, an aunt who sewed... All these women, true artists, not valued by a patriarchal society, who without knowing it or without saying it, self-managed their stress in this way. And, within the anonymity of their home, they transmitted their knowledge from mother to daughter. Moomzart is a story about this broadcast.
We started testing different materials. Choosing the best products and simplifying processes as much as possible. This phase was very long and hard, but it allowed us to have our first kits. At this point, people who initially had doubts about the business, upon seeing the kits, began to change their discourse. Even some of those who criticized us have already taken the step and have begun to punch and be… happier!
