Natural wool for punch needle

You must choose a thick yarn. At Moomzart we have developed a thick yarn, thanks to the help of a craftsman who makes it especially for us. The Oxford needle nº10 requires a yarn with a very specific thickness of 4mm so that you can punch without the yarn constantly leaking out (as usually happens with most yarns) and so that your loops are perfect.

Merino wool comes from a specific type of sheep with very beneficial properties, with a very fine, soft and very high quality fiber. It repels water, has excellent thermal properties, prevents itching and irritation, does not smell, absorbs moisture and repels dirt.

The rustic braided wool will allow you to punch the fabric without the loops or the wool escaping from your needle, since it is specific for the No. 10 Oxford needle. Plus you will never have to block the wrong side of your creativity because the wool will be perfectly integrated into the fabric forever.

Primitive wool is the only one that can guarantee longevity and durability to your punch needle creations. You can try all kinds of fibers with an Oxford needle, using up leftover wool at home, for example. However, some commercially available wools will give you worse results than natural wool. You see, the vast majority of wools on the market are acrylic blends. Although they're sold as natural wool, check the label and you'll see they contain a (quite high, frankly) percentage of "acrylic wool"—that is, plastic.

"Acrylic wool" is made with plastic yarns. These plastic yarns are made from an artificial polymer fiber created from fossil fuels (petroleum) through a chemical process. Wool manufacturers often mix a small amount of wool with plastic fibers simply to reduce costs and be able to label it "natural wool," even though it's anything but natural. Acrylic fibers, in general, try to mimic the appearance and properties of natural wool, but they don't succeed at all. And this is very noticeable in punch needle.

When puncheas is used with "commercial wool", the following occurs:

• You will definitely need to block your creativity so that the loops do not become loose over time
• You can't get your loop to hold on to the fabric because since it is a plastic fiber, it slips and the loops come loose very easily.
• Your loops have no relief because the fiber has no body
• The wool comes off the needle easily.
