How to strengthen the grip of the fabric to the frame in punch needle

Prevent fabric from loosening with this simple trick

In punch needle, keeping the fabric taut in the hoop is essential for accurate, uninterrupted embroidery. However, each person applies a different punching force, and it is common to apply more pressure than necessary at the beginning, causing the fabric to loosen its tension more frequently.

To avoid this problem and improve the stability of your embroidery, there is a very effective trick: cover the hoop with fabric tape. In this video tutorial, we show you step by step how to reinforce the grip of the fabric to the Master of Punch hoop.

Steps to strengthen the grip of the fabric to the frame

Materials needed:

✔ Fabric ribbon about 15mm wide
✔ Circular wooden frame for punch needle
✔ Monk cloth or abbess cloth very taut

1. Cut the fabric ribbon

Cut a piece of fabric tape long enough to cover the entire perimeter of the frame. The tape should be made of cotton or a non-slip material so that the fabric has greater friction and stays in place.

2. Cover the frame

Wrap the tape around the edge of the frame, making sure it is tight and wrinkle-free. If you are using fabric tape, press firmly to secure it properly.

3. Place the fabric on the frame

Once the frame is lined, place the fabric on it and adjust as usual. You will notice that the grip is much stronger and the fabric stays taut for longer without having to constantly readjust it.

4. Check tension and make adjustments

Before you start punching, check that the fabric is taut and that the frame holds it evenly. If necessary, you can add another layer of tape to further improve adhesion.

Tips for a better result

See frame

✔ Use cotton or linen tape instead of synthetic tape for better grip.
✔ Avoid covering the frame with materials that are too thick, as this could make it difficult to place the fabric.
✔ Check the fabric tension periodically and adjust if necessary.

Covering the hoop with fabric tape is a practical and simple solution to prevent the fabric from loosening during embroidery with punch needle. By following these steps, you will achieve a stronger and more stable grip, allowing you to work with greater comfort and precision.
