Abbess punch needle cloth: the all-rounder

Abbess cloth is for you, a punch woman whose creativity knows no bounds. It is a strong, versatile, hard-wearing, open weave fabric (but less so than Monk cloth) and won’t fray! It is perfect if you want to make cushions, toiletry bags, dolls, etc. because it facilitates any work with a needle or a sewing machine. Also, if you’re thinking of a punchy with uncovered areas, the Abbess cloth is the right one for you. It is a cloth for demanding and experienced punchers.

The Abbess linen cloth is the all-rounder. The must have of punch needle cloths.
Very high quality fabric recommended for large punch needle frames. Very good pressure resistance. White fabric that allows to leave unembroidered spaces if desired. Suitable for machine and hand stitching.

Cloth recommended for the Oxford needle.
70% viscose, 30% linen. Made in Germany.

Special cloth for punch needle rugs: Popess cloth

Very high quality cloth recommended for large punch needle frames. Very good pressure resistance. White fabric that allows to leave unembroidered spaces if desired. Can be sewn by machine or by hand.

The Monk cloth is the most popular fabric but in practice it is an uncomfortable cloth to work with:

  • It frays, so you have to tape the entire perimeter of the piece before working with it,
  • It deforms easily so when you undo stitches the fabric does not recover and it is difficult to re-punch with the risk of loops coming loose,
  • It does not support any sewing option, either by hand or by machine, limiting considerably the formats to be created
