1 Oxford punchneedleThe Oxford punch needle is the Rolls Royce of punch needles. It is made entirely in the USA with the best materials (electropolished stainless steel and maple wood). It is very difficult to get one in Europe since its production is limited as a luxury item that it is. If you have already punched with other needles, you will notice an enormous difference: it glides like butter on the fabric, accepts all types and thicknesses of fibers, its handle is ergonomic, it is very very comfortable to thread and it is an elegant object. It comes with a lifetime warranty! Believe us, we have tried a lot of needles and this one surpasses any other. The Oxford #10 will allow you to go very fast in your punch projects since it allows you a fiber thickness of 6mm (like our Primitive wool) and some loops also 6mm high.

Special wool for Oxford needle nº10

If you want to make rugs, bags, clothes… that is to say, any format of punch needle to enjoy in your day, is important that you use a good wool so that your creativity has a long life and does not deteriorate with use and time. The perfect wool for the Oxford needle is a 100% natural wool from Merino sheep with rustic braided yarns. This wool is the primitive wool of rug hooking, the wool from which the finest handmade carpets were and are made.

It is a rustic wool. We have developed it thanks to the help of a craftsman who makes it especially for us. The Oxford needle nº10 requires a wool with a very specific thickness of 4mm. With this needle, you can punch without the wool constantly escaping (as is often the case with most wools) and so that your loops are perfect.

Why don’t we include Monk cloth in the punch needle kits?

Monk cloth is indeed the most popular cloth, but in practice, it is an uncomfortable cloth to work with.

It has 3 major disadvantages. First, it frays so you have to tape the entire perimeter of the piece before working with it. It deforms easily so when undoing stitches the fabric does not recover and it is difficult to punch again with the risk of loops coming loose. Finally, it does not support any sewing option, either by hand or by machine. This fact limiting considerably the formats to be created.
